About me

COUNSELLOR IN TUNBRIDGE WELLS

My name is Mide. I have a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling which is certified by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor - accreditation is a quality standard for experienced practitioners.

Alongside my private practice I am a senior counsellor in a non-profit making counselling service working with men and women of all ages on a wide variety of issues and concerns. I also provide counselling for trainees who are working towards a qualification in counselling.

Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in public and private sector corporate environments. I bring an understanding of the challenges that can arise for adults at all stages of life and the pressures of trying to maintain a balance between the demands of work and other responsibilities as part of a healthy and fulfilled life.

About counselling

How are you feeling?

There are times in our lives when things just don’t feel right, and we may not know why.

You might be struggling to work out who you are and what you want from life. You may be feeling dissatisfied and stuck but not know what or how to change.

Are life's challenges getting you down leaving you feeling stressed, finding it hard to make and keep positive relationships, feeling unfulfilled by what you’re doing or experiencing loneliness?

Maybe you've been deeply affected by specific events and loss – perhaps the death of a loved one, relationship breakdown, redundancy or illness.

Life’s events and what we experience can impact us in many ways affecting our relationships or leading to behaviour that we’re neither happy nor comfortable with. It can bring on a mix of painful feelings, including anger, sadness, vulnerability, guilt and shame – sometimes causing anxiety and depression. Having a counsellor to turn to can help.

What do I bring as a counsellor?

COUNSELLING SESSION IN TUNBRIDGE WELLS

I am committed to providing my clients with the opportunity to talk about their experiences and feelings. If you decide to work with me, I will give you a safe, compassionate and confidential space to feel heard and understood.

I have experience of working successfully on a wide range of concerns including:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Work related stress and other issues
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Issues within families
  • Lack of self-esteem and identity
  • Issues related to childhood experience
  • Trauma
  • Loss
  • Bereavement
  • Redundancy
  • Sex and sexual issues
  • Compulsive behaviours
  • Feeling dissatisfied and stuck
  • Illness
  • Panic attacks

As we work together, I will use my training, skills and experience to help you describe your thoughts and feelings. Respecting you and your experiences, I will encourage, challenge and support you to look at your personal difficulties from different angles. I will support you as you explore how your early experiences might be impacting life and relationships today. This will help you get a better understanding about your current situation.

I will work with you as you identify and implement changes that feel possible to make. I believe, and have seen in my practice, that this is the first and vital step to making long lasting positive change, helping to live a life that feels more fulfilled.

My professional practice:
Confidentially and ethics

It is important that you feel able to trust me as your counsellor. I am fully committed to working confidentially and ethically with my clients and I work in accordance with the BACP’s Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Would you like to get in touch – what happens next?

Deciding to start counselling may feel like a significant step. I am very happy to have an initial phone call with you, for which there is no charge, to hear about you, tell you about me and what I offer or answer any questions. If you are interested in starting counselling we will have one or more introductory meetings, at a mutually convenient time, to talk about the issues that have brought you here. Then you can decide if you feel comfortable working with me and I can assess whether I can be helpful to you. There is no obligation to proceed beyond this point.

If we agree to proceed, I offer open-ended counselling where we would meet for 50 minute sessions on the same day and time every week. I also offer time-limited counselling (for example 6 or 8 sessions) for people who wish to focus on and explore a specific issue.

I work from my therapy room in central Tunbridge Wells and also offer sessions via phone or Zoom. I am available on weekdays during the day and may also have some evening sessions available.

Fees

There is no fee for an initial phone conversation

My fee for introductory meetings is £60, paid in advance
